During this 90 min course, we will learn to how to use the powerful storytelling tool iMovie for iOS. We will build skills to become better visual communicators & storytellers. Topics will cover the basics of project workflow, importing video, manipulating still images & mixing sound. We also will explore together the many features of iMovie including new music library and green screen effects and sharing videos to multiple platforms. Students will: Understand the difference between Trailer & Movie mode in iMovie. Learn to use and customize project templates to start a new project. Learn to import images, video & sound directly from the iMovie app or using other apps. Learn the basic techniques for cutting, trimming and enhancing still & video images. Learn intermediate skills for audio recording, special effects, titles & transitions. Learn where to find royalty-free music, images & stock video. Learn to export & share final videos in multiple resolutions & to platforms multiple platforms.
Frank Guttler is the Director of Programs for the Mobile Film Classroom and a graduate of California State University, Northridge School of Cinema & Television. He is an accomplished educator and digital storytelling and media arts expert with nearly two decades of experience in connecting educators with technology, literacy, and filmmaking. He was recruited by the American Film Institute (AFI) to develop a groundbreaking curriculum for AFI's K-12 Screen Education Center, making the tools and processes and filmmakers accessible to educators of all subjects and grade levels. Frank has also led filmmaking workshops and seminars for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Apple Distinguished Educators, Discovery Educator Network, and Google Teacher Academy.
