Lights Camera Action: I Want to Be an Actor...Now What?

Dreaming is believing! Some people are fascinated to learn about the lives of celebrities. Other young people dream of becoming the next Hollywood actor and have no idea, if they have what it takes to make that dream become a reality. It is a decision that requires great patience, lots of research and a whole lot of determination. The dream's success is based on many variables...some of which we will discuss throughout the class. This class will begin with an ice-breaker activity which will lead nicely into a walk through the life of a young boy who had that the same dream as many of those participating in the class. Students will then learn that there are many pros and cons to being an actor. Those who feel the pros outweigh the cons will learn some strategies to making their dream come true. There will be group discussions, a biography read-aloud and a slide show sharing video-clips and photographs. The session will conclude with a brief Q&A session; therefore, it would be beneficial for all registrants to come to class with any questions and/or concerns they might have pertaining to a career as an actor or film-maker. Following the session, registrants will be provided with a PDF summarizing the information they learned throughout the class to help guide them towards their exciting goal!
