Class Experience
In this 6-week course/project, students will learn the power of visioning their future while making it come to life through the creation of a comprehensive lifestyle budget. During the first meeting, students will explore and do research to identify potential career options that fit their personality types and interests. In the next session, students will learn what a budget is and why it is important. In the third session students will identify a variety of budgeting strategies. In the 4th...

1. I am a budding financial planner who currently teaches financial literacy in a High School setting 2. I have a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University 3. I possess a certificate in Life Coaching from the Youth Coaching Institute 4. I have been teaching and coaching students in literacy, social studies, and life skills for the past 11 years 5. In the past I have worked as an academic counselor, a youth business mentor, a life skills curriculum developer, and am currently a high school adviser in addition to ELA and Financial Literacy coach. 6. In my personal life I teach and also run three side hustles/business, including online teaching, ride sharing, and real estate. I also used to sell used cars. 7. I have personally navigated buying a home, marriage and divorce, bankruptcy, student loans and credit card debt and can provide testimony and strategies to navigate or avoid each.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
1. Students will be sent to youtube for short age-appropriate clips relevant to the topics 2. Students will be linked to Kahoot.it in order to play games and take quizzes on content 3. Nearpod (no account needed) will be used a platform to supplement zoom 4. Google Drive (needs a google account) will be used to access certain worksheets. that are relevant to the content.
