To gain a degree of competence with some basic life skills To learn skills that will allow kids to become more independent
I have successfully raised five sons, who are themselves parents, now. The boys all know how to sew on a button, do the laundry and cook. Their wives have thanked me for this! Additionally, I have been teaching kids from preschool to college level for over 40 years. I have my degree in education with emphasis and additional coursework in early childhood special ed and in adult learning.
There are no homework assignments since this is an on-going class.
This will vary from class to class. Some sources I may use are as follows: https://www.choosemyplate.gov/ten-tips-choose-myplate (public domain materials) https://sewguide.com/wash-laundry-in-a-washing-machine/
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students may be asked to use sharp objects such as kitchen knives, needles and pins. They may also use electric appliances such as a washing machine, stove or microwave oven. Be sure you have gone over basic safety rules with your child before enrolling them in class. The teacher will always highlight safety during instruction.
