PERSEVERANCE is...never, ever, ever giving up. It’s the skill that helps you work through tough things in a positive, effective way. It’s what turns frustration and meltdowns into motivation and determination. It builds character. It builds discipline. It builds self esteem. These skills are critical for our little learners to develop so that they can lead a life they enjoy and are proud if. This class is a part of my Life Skills tool box series. This series is focused on my passion and professional background of arming children with the skills and tools necessary to dream big dreams, confidently face challenges, overcome obstacles and have a positive outlook on life, regardless of circumstances. In this class we will use fun games and activities to introduce students to the concept of perseverance. They will learn what perseverance is, why it's important and ways to practice and develop this skill so they can use it on a daily basis. I use powerpoint, images and videos to create fun, interactive games and activities that will allow students to grasp these concepts and understand their value. It’s not just TELLING them it’s important, it’s allowing a space for them to PLAY with the concept to understand the value for themselves. That’s how you create meaningful change in their hearts. If you have taken any of my classes before, you know that I love to keep the learning going long after the class is over. At the end of class, I will have handouts and activity sheets students can complete to reinforce the skill we talked about in class. If you decide to take other classes in this series, your child will have the opportunity to create their own, personal “MY BEST ME” binder which will be filled with tools activities that reinforce these skills on a daily basis. Breakdown of class structure: 1. Introduce life skill; 2. concept illustration (video, example, role play, etc.); 3. fun, interactive game/activity that encourages deeper understanding and practice of concept; 4. introduction of "toolbox" materials related to skill and assignment of activities 5. wrap up. Please see my Teacher profile for information regarding my class policies and expectations.

Parental Guidance
Parental involvement is encouraged so that the ideas we talk about in class can be reinforced between classes. Repetition and reinforcement is critical, especially with younger children. The more students are talking about these concepts outside of class, the easier it will be for them to incorporate them into their daily lives and mindset.
Supply List
A printer will be needed to print out handouts (3-6 pages) and a 3-hole punch so you can add these pages to your binder. Also, crayons/markers/colored pencils (whatever you have) will be used after class to complete the assignments. Some homework assignments may also require scissors (with adult supervision) and glue. If you would like to complete the "MY BEST ME" binder to organize all of your LIFE SKILLS SERIES materials, you will need a half-inch binder (or 1 inch if you can't find a 1/2 inch binder) with a clear front pocket.
