During this 6-week course, we will be focusing on six important topics that I believe students should discuss with a high school teacher who is not far removed from college. Each week will cover a different topic for the students to learn and discuss how to be successful in preparing for college. This course will not only be a great way to learn skills to working towards college plans, but also allow students to meet other students preparing for the next life step of college. I have found as a high school teacher, that students from all backgrounds need help understanding the demands, expectations, but also opportunities that college brings to students. Each week will cover a different topic that I believe is helpful for high school students, and will involve discussion and interaction as well. The teacher will provide a presentation for students to take notes from, and be able to learn important skills for success in college. I enjoy dialogue in a classroom with older students, and this will be a fun class to help students become more excited about the next step in their life. Lessons for this class: Lesson 1: Let's TALK professors Lesson 2: Let's TALK majors Lesson 3: Let's TALK being social in college with associations, clubs, extracurricular activities, etc. Lesson 4: Let's TALK test, quizzes, and exams Lesson 5: Let's TALK time management Lesson 6: Let's TALK anxiety in college and how to cope with it in the best way, AND have fun in college :) Based on the title of these topics, it is probably obvious how I am excited for class discussion and getting to meet students who are preparing for college. This will be a course with no outside work for students to just be able to talk about college, and learn successful life skills during college. This course is designed for students going to college in the United States.
