Class experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Students will improve their understanding of food safety and sanitation, cooking preparation techniques and build independence. Students will practice using the hand or stand mixer, rolling pin or their hands and layer foods to make an attractive dessert.
As a Family and Consumer Science and Health teacher for grades 6 -12, I teach students healthy cooking and food preparation. Kitchen safety and sanitation is also covered in all of my classes. I hope to guide each student in becoming more independent for life, while contributing to the family lifestyle and meal table. Cooking can be such a healing and expressive task; it is one of my favorite ways to connect with family and friends and I hope to use my years of teaching cooking and nutrition classes to help build your student's confidence and skill in the kitchen.
One small box of instant pudding mix in a flavor of your student's choice: pumpkin spice, butterscotch, vanilla or chocolate
2 cups milk or dairy alternative such as almond milk
Gingersnap cookies or other vanilla flavored cookies (at least ten)
Cool Whip or any brand whipped cream in a tub
Hand or stand mixer
One bowl, one liquid measuring glass, dishes for individual parfaits and a spoon
Parents should be advised that a stand or hand mixer will be used and food ingredients need to be purchased prior to class if your student desires to make the dish with me. Cow milk can be substituted with almond milk.
