Set your child up for success in life! They will be learning all the things we learned the hard way about budgeting our money. Set them up for smart spending, saving, and living. 

A five-class, self-paced course to set you on the course for successful finances as you approach adulthood. Learn budgeting, the real costs of living on your own, credit/credit reports/financing, paychecks/taxes, and pitfalls/mindset.

We will be learning the definition of a budget, and why it is important to have one. I will go over several different ways one can be created, so they can find what works best for them. I will show them how to use Excel to make it easier to traack their expenses and income. We will go over the pitfalls of not tracking your money, and how to use your money wisely. 

What is a budget?

Many teens think they know how much it will cost to move out and manage their own household, but many are very mistaken and end up in trouble. I will go over all the expenses they can run into, how to keep little problems from becoming bigger, and how to know you are truly ready to strike out on your own. We will also discuss keeping expectations realistic and great ways to save money.

The real cost of living on your own

Everyone keeps mentioning this thing called a "credit score", but what is it? And what does it mean? I will explain the score and it's purpose, what they can do to raise it, and why it's improtant. We will also discuss credit cards and how they work, as well as other lines of credit (such as financiing a living room set, etc. ). I will explain interest rates and the effect they have on your bottom line, and how to keep from paying too much. 

Credit/Credit Reports/Financing

Ever calculate how much money you earned, just to be disappointed when you saw the deposit? I will explain the paycheck and all of the places your money went, and the reason for them.

Financial stability is largely achieved through the right view on money. The desire to say no for the greater goal, the ability to not make rash decisions, and not trying to keep up with everyone else. We will work on our mindset and the "why" behind all of our decisions. We will also go over the pitfalls and mistakes you can fall vicitm to if your mindset is not what it should be. "Keeping up with the Jones'", over-decorating, peer pressure, etc.
