Through the use of guided illustrations, children will learn about the anatomy of a different animal, plant, insects or a non-living thing in nature each week. We start the class by discussing the theme and the children's knowledge of the theme, then the teacher will share some interesting facts. Together the class will create a drawing of the theme, finishing by labelling each part and discussing what it does and how it makes it unique. Children will develop an understanding that...
- Identify the anatomy and features of insects, animals, plants and the natural world. - Discuss what plants, animals, and insects need for survival - Understand what makes each thing unique in the natural world
- Colored pencils - Crayons (block and stick crayons if possible) - Pencils - Scissors - Glue - A3 sketch book - Anatomy labels from provided nature journal (printed or hand written)
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental Guidance is required for the use of scissors when cutting out the labels ready for class.
