Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This is an Ongoing Class and a student may join and drop-in any week of the class.
This class discusses all the facts about different body organs and organ systems. Each week one body system and all the organs that make up the system will be discussed. Students will learn about each organ structure and function that makes up the organ system. Students will learn the complete process and working of the organ system.

Learn, discuss, explore, understand and apply the concepts by doing a fun hands-on activity, create a model or experiment using regular materials for homework and Review Notes sheet with all the learning that happened in the class.

1. A Review Notes worksheet will be shared in the classroom after the class meeting, for the students to work on and reinforce the class learning. This will have all the information and some images of all that will be discussed in each class.
2. Students will be provided with optional assignments to complete outside of the class time each week. These assignments may be in the form of a 'hands-on fun experiment', 'creating a model' and/or a 'play dough activity'.

The images and videos are age appropriate and used from credible educational sources.
No previous knowledge is required.

Anatomy is the study of the structures associated with the human body.
Physiology is the study of the function of each of these structures. The human body is often thought of as a complicated machine. In order for the machine to work, it must have each of these parts to function optimally.

First 2 minutes will be an introduction of the teacher and students and a discussion on the topic for the day.
Next 40 minutes will be the teacher sharing a Google Slide presentation, reinforcing the concepts learned in the class and watching short video clips on the topic, from credible educational sources with graphics and animations.
Students are welcome to discuss and ask questions to make the class more interactive.
Students may note down some points as we are watching and discussing it. They may use graphics/flowcharts/concept maps for these concepts as well.
Last 3 minutes students will share his/her learning with the class and may ask relevant and essential questions.

I have several sections of this class in a week. If there is a schedule conflict anytime in a week, then please let me know and I will be happy to make the transfer to another section of this class for a different day and/or time. Since I share videos in class that require permission and subscription, I am able to play them in class but not able to share them online. I do not share the class recording but always willing to make a transfer to another section of the week.Thanks.:)

Guiding Questions:
1. How many organs do we have and what do they all do?
2. Do all the organs in our body have to work together to keep your body going?
3. What happens to our body when one or more organ in our body do not work properly?
4. What are organ systems?
5. Does each system in our body carry out it's own function?
6. Do the different organs and organ system interact with each other?
Learning Goals
Students will learn all about different organs and organ systems in our body. They will learn their structure and functions. They will also learn the interactions of organs and body systems with each other.
