Class Experience

Ever wonder what life is like on a film or television set? Who are all those people in the background and what goes on behind the scenes? Through this class, students will get their answers and have some insights into what a day on set looks like.

Did you know that every single person you see in a movie has had their wardrobe carefully picked out? Or how some film productions have secret titles so the public doesn’t find out what’s filming? Or that some Christmas movies are actually filmed in the summer?

I will be sharing secrets and fun behind the scenes details from my experience working in the film and television industry. I have worked on a variety of different sets including both film and television and night and day shoots. I will be walking students through a day in the life, specifically from a Background Performer perspective. Students will learn film lingo, what the set rules are, what the misconceptions are, and some fun facts that they might not have known prior to the class.

Watching movies and TV shows suspend our disbelief, but there is a lot of work that goes into them and I will be giving an overview that hopefully results in students gaining a new appreciation for this art.

Learning Goals

Students will leave the class with a greater understanding of what a day on set can look like, some film lingo, and small details that go into the creation of a film or television show that are not common knowledge.
