What is it like to live in the Southwest desert?

During this one time, one hour class, students will learn about the Southwest deserts and their ecosystems. Students will learn about the animals that live in the desert and how they survive the extreme heat during the day and extreme cold at night. In addition, students will become familiar with plant life and land forms that are found in the desert. Students will draw a desert scene and label the land forms, plants, and animals. I was born and raised in Arizona and I lived in the desert for 3 years. I feel that this personal connection to the Southwest desert allows me to add to my lesson and give personal accounts of what it was like to live in a desert.
Students will need to bring white copy paper, colored pencils, markers, or crayons to class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
