US Grade 9 - 12
Writing a novel in one month is no easy feat, but with support from a writing group of your peers, it's an attainable goal! Weekly class time will include discussion, setting daily and weekly word count goals, developing characters and story lines, and making plans for managing writing time. Students will be able to exchange work for constructive feedback from classmates as desired; peer workshopping Is encouraged but not required. The primary focus of this class is on supporting each other's creative process and providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ writers to explore topics and themes relevant to their lives and experiences. Whether you're writing romance, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, horror, or another genre, this group will support your endeavors. This class is open to writers of any experience level interested in completing a novel-length work in November. Meetings will focus on completing each learner's goals for their yearly novel writing challenge. Each meeting will focus on meeting weekly word counts to achieve the goal of completing a novel-length work. I will work with each student to set a realistic and achievable word count goal for their work. AI generated writing is not permitted in this class. All creative works must be completed by the learner!
Learning Goals
Students will strive to complete a novel or novella in a one-month time period through setting reasonable goals.
