Class experience
This is an ongoing writing workshop for anyone who identifies on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Class will be a safe space to express yourself creatively, discover queer writers in the literary community, and be in community with fellow queer writers. We will explore all different types of writing: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and many in between. Feel free to write in any genre that inspires you. I am a cis, queer-identified writer who has co-lead a weekly queer writing group for the past 5 years. I know how important it is to have queer community and cherish the closeness that grows out of creating and sharing together.
This class has a focus on building safe community for LGBTQ+ youth. We will not explicitly discuss issues of gender/sex/sexuality, but rather provide a space to grapple with personal issues creatively through writing. Personal information shared within the group stays within the group.
