Description
Class Experience
I have experience running and operating a Gay-Straight Alliance as the vice president at a high school and college level as well as taking continuing education in women's rights, LGBT+ history, violence and oppression, gender and sexuality in media, critical communication, and crucial conversations as well as de-escalation of conflict. I am also well-versed in talking about big issues, as I have for other classes on this site for the past year.
Each week students will watch the lecture, watch the related media as it appears in the lecture, and then post their responses in comment threads.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This class will be discussing (in careful terms) violence against LGBT+ individuals, legislation that has been lodged against them, visualization of poor portrayals of LGBT+ individuals to show opposite effective portrayals. Questions will be handled respectfully and learners are welcome to ask what they wish, though the answers will be handled in an age-appropriate way and relayed to parents should the instructor feel they cannot accurately answer the question.
Netflix, YouTube (as linked above in class description). All additional materials will be sent to the classroom as well as to parents for them to peruse before learners see them.
