Homework
2-4 hours per week. These will be small activities that the students will be able to implement right away after class. They will be expected to post up the visuals or add them to their daily life. I will have a personal check-in for the student to complete each day to help them create realistic and maintainable expectations. These will require some support from the parents but then will move to a faded scaffold for students to become independent in their daily routines.Assessment
We will be checking in with the students to see how organized they me become. This will be an informal assessment based on personal goals that they set.Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
This personalized 1-on-1 class focuses on building executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, focus, and goal-setting. Students will gain practical strategies to stay on top of tasks, reduce stress, and build confidence. What topics will I cover? -Organizing materials and assignments -Managing time and creating schedules -Staying focused and reducing distractions -Breaking down big tasks into manageable steps -Prioritizing and setting achievable goals How is your class structured? Each session is customized to the learner's needs, starting with a brief check-in to set goals for the session. Activities will include interactive discussions, hands-on tasks, and personalized strategies tailored to their learning style and goals. How will you teach? I use a combination of visual aids (slides, charts, and examples), engaging conversations, and practical activities to make the learning experience dynamic and relatable. Lessons are scaffolded to ensure understanding and skill-building over time. What’s your teaching style? My teaching style is supportive, patient, and flexible. I create a safe and encouraging environment where learners can ask questions, try new strategies, and build confidence at their own pace. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will engage with me throughout each session through discussions, brainstorming, and collaborative problem-solving. We’ll use hands-on activities, slides, and real-world examples to make learning meaningful and fun! This class is all about giving students the tools they need to succeed while ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

Paper and Pen/Pencil: For taking notes, completing tasks, and engaging in written exercises. This allows students to follow along and apply what they’ve learned during the session. Planner or Calendar: A physical or digital planner to track assignments, schedules, and goals. This will help students practice time management and organization skills as part of the course. ( Will create a planner / Calendar with the student, however if their is a specific planner they wish to use, please let me know so I can discuss it further. Please do not go out and buy one for this course.) Organizational Tools: If relevant, students might use folders, binders, or digital tools (such as Google Drive or OneNote) for organizing their work, assignments, and materials. Optional Visual Aids: Sticky notes, color-coded markers, or other visual tools to aid in organization and goal-setting, particularly for students who benefit from visual cues.

As a dedicated special education teacher with over seven years of experience teaching executive functioning skills to students in grades K-9, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to this course. My background includes working with diverse learners, including students with ADHD, ASD, and other unique learning needs, helping them develop essential strategies for organization, time management, and focus in various school and home environments.
I have successfully taught these skills in classroom settings, small groups, and 1-on-1 sessions, tailoring strategies to meet the unique needs of each learner. My approach combines research-based techniques with a warm, supportive teaching style to help students feel confident and empowered.
In addition to my professional experience, I’m also a parent of children who struggle with executive functioning skills. Using the same tools and strategies I teach in this course, my children have learned how to organize their tasks, manage their time, and stay focused, achieving greater success both in and out of school.
This dual perspective—as an educator and parent—has given me invaluable insights into what truly works to help children build these life-changing skills. I’m passionate about creating a positive, individualized learning environment where every student can thrive and reach their potential.
