1-2 hours per week. There are 5-6 follow-up activities provided per lesson. I highly recommend students complete these activities in sequential order as they are cumulative and scaffold student success when beginning the following lesson. From Lesson 2, one of the activities will be a review of the previous lesson to solidify memory retention. Students are welcome to share their work with me, and I will give feedback based on the work submitted each week.

Level Up Sentences! Aspiring creative writers will learn to engage their readers by carefully constructing excellent, descriptive sentences.

This self-paced, 4-week course has been methodically designed to scaffold student success. The video lessons are cumulative, building on one another as students progress through the course and the 5-6 follow-up activities per lesson. Using colours and some symbols inspired by the Montessori method, students can identify parts of speech and confidently construct their creative sentences with their new grammatical knowledge. By the end of the course, students can level up their sentences using ALL the skills taught!

Lesson 1: Adding Amazing Adjectives
Lesson 2: Vivid Verbs
Lesson 3: Adverb Alterations
Lesson 4: Stretch & Shrink Sentences

In my video lessons, engaging slides introduce each topic and the learning objective. We then unpack the topic step-by-step, first examining the topic in isolation and then applying this new knowledge to sentence construction. We finish with a quick review (nothing new!) and a short explanation about the follow-up tasks. These tasks can be completed at the student’s own pace, however I suggest one task a day during the course as this will boost memory retention of the lesson topic.

Before starting the course: I encourage learners to write a short story, then compare this with one they write after the course to self-assess their progress and achievements.
During the course: Students can reach out with questions and submit work for feedback.
After the course: Students can apply their new skills to future stories, essays…and maybe even novels!

As the students’ guide, I am calm, positive, and clear in my teaching approach. I use think-aloud techniques and humour during my video lessons to engage students and get them thinking carefully about each topic!

This course is suitable for learners who:
- can write simple sentences in English (e.g. I went to the park on the weekend.)
- repeatedly use the same sentence structure in a story and want to learn how to improve this with different sentence structures
- wish to understand the parts of speech and how they are used in a sentence
- want to work on editing or recrafting their writing to engage their readers
- are 7-8-years-old and would like to extend their writing skills or 9-10-years-old and would like to strengthen their writing skills

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing your learner in my classroom soon!

Hello! My name is Miss T. I’m a certified primary school teacher with a Master of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Second Language Education.

I have several years of classroom experience delivering all aspects of the primary (elementary) curriculum, working with children aged 5 to 13. My expertise is within the 6-9-year-old range. I also have experience teaching the Montessori Method, reflected in my calm and caring teaching persona.

My specialties are literacy, literature, ESOL, mathematics, visual arts, social-emotional skills, and wellbeing. I absolutely love teaching writing - there is so much room for creativity and personal voice! I find great joy in extending gifted learners just as much as accelerating those who may need a boost and have experience in delivering targeted curriculum to both.
