If you know your guitar chords and can play some simple melodies, this class will take your playing to the next level with guitar solo techniques, advanced chords and music theory!
Class experience
Each week, we learn new techniques on the guitar, including soloing, barre chords, advanced chord progressions and music theory. Often, we use a famous guitar riff or solo that showcases a particular skill. This class is largely learner-directed, so students' playing goals and musical tastes help guide the content. A handout is provided for each technique, and if appropriate, I also send recordings of me playing the pieces at varying tempos, for the students to practice along to at home...
A handout is provided for each technique, and if appropriate, I also send recordings of me playing the pieces at varying tempos, for the students to practice along to at home after the class. Students should bring: • A tuned guitar (acoustic or electric guitars are equally welcome and appropriate for this class) • Guitar pick (optional - finger picking is a perfectly good technique) • Guitar strap (optional - students may sit or stand, depending on preference)
