🌟 This class focuses on phonics, phonemic awareness, multi-syllable words, spelling, advanced decoding skills, chunking, word work, segmenting, and blending. We will take a deep dive into word parts and spelling patterns to quickly recognize and apply them to unfamiliar words. Learners will become confident in their ability to decode any word they encounter in the English language.
I am a certified elementary teacher and certified reading therapist. I am offering this class to give students an in-depth study of how our English words are structured, and how to break them down into their sounds in order to make decoding easier. I teach each lesson using the Phono-graphix method which I have been formally trained in by the program authors. I have been using this strategy with my private students for over 20 years and my students have had amazing success with it.
Homework Offered
Independent practice is encouraged by continuing to build word lists with special endings. Students are expected to apply newly learned skills to their independent reading outside of class meetings.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessment of student's skills through their responses during class time. Parents may request a written assessment from the teacher upon completion of the class.Grades Offered
