This is class is for Learners who have completed Levels 1 and 2, have a proficiency with editing, and want a space to continue sharpening their moviemaking skills! As with Levels 1 and 2, Learners will be assigned 1-2 hours of work at home towards making their movie, which they will need to submit as "homework." It's important that Learners have the time and commitment to doing the work between meetings in order to have a successful experience in this class. DAILY CLASS SCHEDULE: *WEEK ONE Students will discuss story structure and develop the plot of their movies. They will then storyboard their projects. They will also learn about the option for keyframing to make LEGOs "fly" and discuss how to incorporate it into their projects. *AT HOME - WEEK ONE After the first meeting, students will shoot their movies at home. They are asked to do at least one hour of focused shooting, with the goal of producing about 200 frames to make an animated movie about 30 seconds long. *WEEK TWO Students will share the footage they shot as homework, and will learn how to give one another positive feedback. Then they will learn about how to do keyframing on iMovie for Mac computers, to make their LEGOs "fly." *AT HOME - WEEK TWO Students will spend 1-2hrs editing their project on iMovie to create a "rough cut" of their film. *WEEK THREE Students will share their rough cuts and give positive feedback. They will be given final suggestions and additional techniques for polishing their films. *AT HOME - WEEK THREE Students are asked to spend additional editing time as needed to polish and finalize their films. (Approx. 1-2hrs) *WEEK FOUR Movie watching party! Students will share their projects with each other and celebrate their hard work. (Note: Day Four is shorter, just 30 minutes instead of 50 minutes like Days One, Two, and Three.)

Can my Learner use the iMovie App on a mobile device, instead? Learners are welcome to use the App if that experience works for them. 2. Can I install iMovie on my Chromebook, Windows, or Android device? ANSWER: The iMovie Software used in class is only compatible with Mac computers. 3. If I only have a Chromebook or Windows computer, can my Learner do their editing work on a different software program? ANSWER: Your Learner may use a different editing program, but please be aware it may not support all the features we'll be learning, and it will have a different interface that will not be covered in class. Learners are welcome to use other programs if that experience works for them. 4. Can I take this class without the required Mac computer? ANSWER: You are welcome to take the class and use different technology, but please be aware that two of our four classes will focus on learning to edit with iMovie Software, which is work that can only be completed on a Mac computer. Learners are welcome to take the class if that experience works for them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a graduate of NYU-Tisch with a Bachelor of Fine Arts who has been teaching arts classes for over a decade. I have worked with countless students of all ages from first grade all the way up to twelfth, and have helped them produce and create thousands of their own original movies, plays, and creative writing pieces. Many of my students continue making their own projects long after class has ended, and often they go on to pursue these subjects at prestigious arts programs and colleges. The young people I've worked with are some of the most creative, imaginative individuals I've ever met, and I believe strongly in helping them tap into their natural talents, try new things, and dream big.
Outside of my teaching work, I'm active as a writer, producer, and editor in the indie worlds of film, TV, and theatre. I also enjoy being outdoors, cooking, and reading. My only fluent language is English, but I also speak a little bit of French, Hebrew, American Sign Language, and Zulu (really). I also know a lot about bears (not really.)
