1 hour per week. Students are asked to practice each new song at least 3 times everyday outside of class.Class Experience
This class is for learners who already have about a year experience taking piano lessons. They should have a very good grasp on reading notes. If you have previously taken lessons with me you would fit well into this class if you have taken class 6 or are in class 7. In this course we will use the book "Playtime Piano Christmas" by Faber. This book can be found on Amazon. This class will meet once per week for 30 minutes. We will cover as much as we thoroughly can during these lessons. The song I plan to cover and the weekly breakdown are as follows - Week 1- Jingle Bells Week 2- When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter Week 3- Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer Week 4- A Holly Jolly Christmas Week 5- The Night Before Christmas Week 6- Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Week 7-We Wish You. Amerrry Christmas Week 8 - review This is a tentative schedule as each learners pace may vary. The more motivated the student is to practice outside class the more we can accomplish inside class. I do my best to be an encouraging and positive motivator. The way my classes generally run is something like this - I explain and play a small piece of the song and then ask the students to repeat and play it back to me. I find this helps the information "stick". I do ask students to participate in class by answering questions as well as playing the music back to me. I ask learners to practice each song learned at least 3 times everyday outside of class. When they return to class the following week I ask them to perform the song learned for the class. In this class we will discuss terms such as accents, tempo, fermata, 1st and 2nd endings, ritard, slur, staccato etc. This will be a fun holiday themed class and your student will be able to serenade you with lots of festive music by the end. There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit!! *Please be on time for classes. I will lock the classroom 10 minutes into class due to it being hard to catch a student up at that point without causing the rest of the class to lag behind. Also, I want your learner to be able to enjoy every minute of class! :)
Learning Goals
Students will learn to play several holiday themed songs as well as improve their musical ability.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm so happy you stopped by my profile! I am currently a homeschooling mom, and have been a music teacher for half my life (16 years - you do the math;).
Music has the ability to strengthen the connection beween the body and the brain to help them work together as a team, which is why I incorporate music into a lot of my classes.
The more pathways a student uses for learning something new, the more pathways they have for retrieval of the information. Because of this, I utilize multisensory techniques.
My teaching style is "I tell you, you tell me, you show me".
As per one of my favorite quotes - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
I offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My classes are thorough and time efficient, but I also work at the students pace to be sure they are grasping the concepts as we move along.
