Letter of the Week With Teacher Keyla (2x week)
What's included
2 live meetings
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each class we will open up with our "Hello" song to welcome everyone, and review our classroom rules. This will be followed by an introduction of a new letter of the week. Your child will be able to identify and write a new letter name and sound each week (Aa-Zz) through interactive games, activities, crafts, songs, show and tell, and storytime books depending on the day. Although this is a "Letter a Week" class, your child will review previous letters along with new ones learned in random order, throughout the curriculum. We will end class with our "Goodbye" song! Making sure each child feels safe, heard, is engaged, and having fun is important to me as a teacher, and our classes will always cap at 6 learners to leave lots of room for participation and interaction with one another in class. Whether your child is super shy and non-verbal, or has high-energy and loves to talk, they are welcome to come as they are in these classes! Materials for each class will be minimal and easy to find at home (eg. paper, crayons, pencil, activity sheets provided, etc) and those specific supplies will be announced in the classroom page with enough time to prepare before class. If you do not have a printer, or the supplies shared on the page on a given week, no worries. Please let me know and we can figure out alternatives- just as long as your child is there on time and ready to learn and enjoy the full 30 minutes of class, thats all that matters! Please see below for the current ongoing schedule: (You can unsubscribe at any point and are not committed to the entire 26 weeks if you are not interested, or able to. You can sign up for one week- in any order- to check it out and that is all, if you prefer!) 26 Week Curriculum (SCHEDULE TBD) ** If you and your child end up enjoying my classes, I would love to hear all about it via the public feedback on this page! Thank you so much for your support, and I hope to see your child in my class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Keyla, and I have been teaching as a certified teacher for 10 years. I have a Bachelors Degree in Childhood Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education. I am currently teaching ESL online, and have taught English for 1 year to children ranging anywhere between the ages of 3-13 years old. Throughout my years teaching as a Brick & Mortar teacher, I was a Kindergarten and 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher, a 2nd Grade Interventionist and Special Education Teacher, and a Nanny/Babysitter Educator and Early Childhood Educator working primarily with babies and toddlers (0-4 yr olds) in both small group and one-on-one settings. (Fun Fact: I have my own little toddler at home, and have had the privilege of putting into practice all that I've soaked in and learned as an educator with my son!)
I am a big advocate for making learning fun, engaging, interactive and applicable to children in their everyday lives. I want learners to feel safe, heard, and treated with respect. I have developed and/or taught several age-appropriate lesson plans, modified for both ELL learners and those with special needs that were designed to promote educational, physical, and social/emotional development, based on differentiated learning needs. I have a strong unwavering belief in the holistic and whole-child approach to education. I am super excited in working with your children here at Outschool to be able to instill the love of learning in each and every one of them, and allow them to see learning as a fun part of their everyday life; not just an academic or "school" thing.
My classes will be focusing on early literacy, numeracy skills, and conversational English for ESL students. During my ESL classes, we will be talking about several fun topics as we get to know each other and practice the English language together! In my early literacy classes, learners will be able to identify and write the letter and sounds of the Alphabet. In my early numeracy classes, learners will be able to identify, count and write numbers 1-10. In all of my classes shared above, I will be integrating play, movement, songs, books, interactive games/activities, and arts & crafts to be able to instill the love of learning to the children that I work with!
I can't wait to meet your little one in my classroom and bring these fun lessons to life!
