Let's Write: Writing Our Own Novel

Do you love writing? In this Ongoing English Class, learners will work on their own novel each week. This is an ongoing course, so learners can join at any point. The classes are designed thematically so learners can work on the topic of the week no matter what stage of writing their novel they are at. This course aims to provide meaningful learning experiences for young writers.

Each class will include a range of teaching methods and activities that are designed to engage the learners in both a hands-on and minds-on way. Classes will include discussions, Q&A, quizzes, games, worksheets, songs, videos and much more.  Learners will be encouraged to write, revise and share what they write. A variety of methods are used to support learners and cater for different learning styles and needs.

Week of 5/5/25 - Research! Using Facts to Improve Fiction
Week of 12/5/25 - Creating Comedy

Week of 2/6/25 – Idea Generation: What to Write About?
Week of 9/6/25 – Creating Main Characters
Week of 16/6/25 – Building Conflict
Week of 23/6/25 – Writing Wicked Villains!
Week of 30/6/25 – Setting and Mood
Week of 7/7/25 – Choosing a Point of View

Each week will include English language direction including spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, grammar and input on ideas. Learners are expected to complete their writing following each class and submit it via the classroom.
