I am a certified elementary school teacher. I have been teaching for over 10 years.
Students will have time in class to begin the independent parts of their writing. However, students work at various paces and will need to complete their writing outside of class. After Day 1, students may need to finish completing their graphic organizer outside of class. After Day 2, students may need to finish writing their draft outside of class. After Day 3, students will write their final drafts outside of class. Students may submit these to the teacher for feedback.
Graphic organizers will be provided for students to print or complete digitally Students will need writing tools including paper and pencils, unless all writing will be completed digitally (such as through Google Docs)
A rubric will be used to assess student writing if the final draft is submitted to the teacher for feedback. This rubric will be provided on Day 1 as a reference for students.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use NearPod to provide interactive classroom presentations of the information. The graphic organizers used will be available for students to complete digitally using Google slides. Students may choose to use Google Docs rather than paper and pencil to complete their writing drafts, but it is optional.
