Learning the alphabet is a foundational skill needed for reading success.  Letter-sound association is key for mastering the alphabet.  Many students may enter school with the ability to recognize letters. There are fewer students that can recognize the sounds the letters make. This class is ideal for ESL students. 
      In this unique class, students will learn the alphabet starting with learning the sounds of the letters . The students will first hear the sounds before they match it to the letter. This method will help students to learn and strengthen their phonics skills. There will be direct and targeted instruction in learning the alphabet. 
       The letters of the alphabet will be taught not in succession but by common sounds the letters make first. Each lesson will be taught in a systematic way to ensure all students will learn the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make.
        Each class will include learning the sounds first , sound- symbol association, letter recognition, and a multi sensory activity. There will be games, hands- on fun, and printable work during class. This class is ideal for students who need the extra support learning the alphabet. It is also a perfect class for students who have not learned the alphabet yet.
