Class Experience

In this ongoing class, students will write different styles of poetry and will be given a theme for each poem. Students will practice how to organize and structure their poem, word choice, flow of poem, maintaining a theme, rhymes, and use of syllables in their poem. Students will write 1-2 poems each class depending on time.
For each class I will introduce the style of poetry for the day by detailing what the poem consists of, the rules, structure, and the theme for the poem. To make it fun, for some of the classes I will spin a wheel that will choose the theme for the poem that the students will write! And the students will provide examples for topics to write about for the wheel to choose from. After I provide an introduction for the poem style, I will then provide students time to work on their poems. This time consists of quiet time and time where they can ask me for help and for ideas for their poems. To help with spelling or with coming up with ideas for each line of the poem, I can write students poems on the board. If students need help with coming up with ideas or would like to share an idea for their poem, they are encouraged to raise their hand and share their idea or ask their question. Depending on the style of poem, I will check in with each student after every 1 or 2 lines to see if they have questions, need help with ideas for the line, and to ensure that they are following the rules and organization of the poem. After writing their poems, students will share their poem with the class if they feel comfortable with reading their poem to the class.

Hello everyone! I offer a variety of classes in dance for all levels and ages.
I have been dancing since I was 2.5 years old and have trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical/contemporary. I have had the opportunity to perform in roles such as the Sugarplum Fairy and Dew Drop in the Nutcracker, Wendy and Smee in Peter Pan, and an Evil Stepsister in Cinderella.
I have been teaching ballet/pointe since 2018 and have had the opportunity to choreograph for several performances such as the Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, and Peter Pan. Prior to this I worked as a student teacher from 2012-2016 and a substitute dance teacher from 2016-2018. From 2018-2020 I acted as the Artistic Director and Executive Director for my college Ballet Company where I choreographed ballet/contemporary pieces, taught classes and scheduled/organized performances.
Dance is an excellent way to express yourself and learning new skills is one of the most exciting parts! In my classes I provide my students with combinations that challenge them, help them to improve, and also help them to build confidence and enjoy the process of learning to dance. My classes will focus on technique, learning new skills, learning choreography, and understanding dance terminology.
