In this course, students will learn how to write on their own. We first learn the parts of a sentence and practice sentence structure. Each class students will have a short lesson or review from the teacher. Students will participate in group writing activities to help them become better writers. I will be focusing more on writing and getting our thoughts on paper. I want all students to know they can be a writer. Week 1- Sentence Review and Authors Essential questions: What makes a good sentence? How do I know if I wrote a good sentence? Who is an author? What do good authors write? Week 2- Adjectives Essential questions: What is an adjective? How can adjectives be used to tell more? Week 3-6 -Writing a personal narrative Essential questions: What is a personal narrative? How can I tell a story in the correct order? How do I write a personal narrative? I believe in the gradual release model. I plan to teach and model each component, then have the class work together with me to create together, then last they will have the opportunity to practice the skill on their own. Students should be able to write all letters and be able to sound out and write words.
Learning Goals
Students will hone their writing skills by learning how to use adjectives and how to tell, and write a personal narrative.
