In this fantasy writing class, we'll discuss ways to create engaging and interesting stories that help our readers feel like they're truly a part of the world we've written about. Day One: What is fantasy writing? Students will discuss ways they can create a world. After class, they'll write a one-paragraph description of a world they want to write about and bring it to the next class. Day Two: Creating wonderful characters: what makes characters great? For homework, students will create a protagonist (or "good guy") and bring their character description to the next class. Day Three: Developing conflict: what makes good drama? For homework, students will create an antagonist (or "bad guy") and bring their character description to the next class. Day Four: Creating your plot: what's important? In our final class together, we'll talk about different plot ideas and how to make a plot fun and interesting for our readers. Students will not need anything other than themselves when they come to class. The homework assignments should be fun - not stressful - and will not take more than 30 minutes per class.

Learning doesn't have to be boring, so I offer Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, and even Harry Potter classes designed to get your learners thinking about different ways to share their thoughts and express themselves. I offer writing, science, and social classes designed to help your learner share their thoughts in a safe environment.
I hope that after class, each student will walk away from our time together feeling more confident and comfortable with their own communication skills. My goal as an educator is to help students feel great about their writing and communication skills and to learn how to improve in new and creative ways.
I'm a professional writer with 19 years of experience as an article creator, novelist, and editor. I've published several bestselling books and love both creative and technical writing. I also teach writing at homeschool co-ops and online for teens and adults.
