Let's Write About Fairies: Writing Descriptive Sentences and Paragraphs

In this class students will practice and improve their writing skill through multiple writing activities. This class will focus on simple sentences and how to group ideas together into paragraphs. Students will use their imagination to create a fairy. Over 3 weeks students will develop their fairy through different writing activities. A sample prompt that we will write about is where does your fairy live? Students will learn about the importance of descriptive words in their writing. Students will look at published authors and identify elements of the authors writing to use in their own work. Students will be given an opportunity to draw a picture to go with their written paragraph. 
Each week students will complete a writing assignment and by the end of the course students will have completed a collection of descriptive paragraphs based on a fairy. 

Week 1: Design Your Fairy
In week 1 students will focus on punctuation and paragraph structure. Student will start to describe their fairy's appearance. 

Week 2: Where does Your Fairy Live? 
In week 2 students will focus on descriptive words. In this class students will explore descriptive words and ways to enhance their writing.

Week 3: Fairy Powers
In week 3 students will edit their final work and put their paragraphs together to create a finished piece.
