Is letter writing a lost art? In this class, learners will write a thank you note. The class will begin with Mrs. C acting out the excitement of receiving a gift. We will have a discussion and each learner will have a chance to talk about the gift they received from someone. Then, we will move on to the importance of showing thankfulness when one receives a gift. Mrs. C will model step by step how to write a thank you note using a graphic organizer. This will help us organize our thoughts. By the end of the class, each learner will have discovered an organized way to draft a thank you note. Learners can share their thank you letters at the end of class.
Learning Goals
Learners will be taught how to write a thank you note using a graphic organizer (thinking map). They will learn the parts of a letter and basic sentence conventions. We will practice using capital letters at the beginning of sentences, finger spacing between words and using correct punctuation.
