Week of Feb. 6-10: "A wild animal is loose in the house!" Use the words orange and ankle..... Week of Feb. 13-17: "Time Travel" Use the words garlic and hurricane... Week of Feb. 20-24: "A Summer Job" Use the words spiral and amusement park Week of Feb. 27-March 3: "Three famous people--alive or dead--from any time period have dinner together" Use the words feisty and peacock Week of March 6-10: "On the new moon the familiar door to the closet changed to a portal to another world. Why have they chosen me as their hero?" Use the words frustrating and spatula Students will receive a prompt such as the examples above and be given time to write. If the class is reluctant or unsure, we will write a story together taking turns building the story one sentence at a time using the chat feature. At the end of class, if students choose to, they can read their creations aloud so we can congratulate them. I have been teaching for 24 years, have English Education certification, and have published a book--but my main strength is helping students feel confident and safe enough to create with their own words. This will be a warm, welcoming and non-intimidating place to practice writing.

A widow who raised three 2E children on an acreage surrounded by animals, she believes creativity is key to authentic self-awareness. Jackson has 27 years teaching experience and 15 years directing experience. She currently teaches theatre and writing for Outschool and Young Scholars Academy.
