In this 1:1 class, students will learn to and be guided in writing their own story/novel.
Each topic will be leveled to student's abilities.

A young writer could be writing a 3 page story using a Graphic Organizer with a picture and 1-3 sentences per page.

The most advanced student could be expanding on their 50,000 word novel that they decided to write for NaNoWriMo into a publishable work.

Subjects covered and taught:

Introduction to Storytelling: Discussing what makes a good story, covering elements like characters, plot, setting, conflict, and resolution.

Inspiration: Encouraging them to draw from personal experiences, interests, or imagination.

Character Development: How to create compelling characters with depth and personality.

Plot Development: Discussing the importance of a well-structured plot. Introduce concepts like rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

Setting: How to create a vivid setting that supports the story.

Writing Drafts: Writing their story.

Vocabulary: Expanding vocabulary and use of descriptive words to enhance a story.

Revision: How to revise their work, focusing on improving the story's flow, clarity, and engagement.

Editing: Discussing the importance of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Feedback: How to use and handle constructive criticism.

Final Draft: After multiple rounds of revision and editing, they should have a final draft.

Publishing: Discussing different ways to publish, like self-publishing or traditional publishing. Overview of most often used self-publishing avenues.

Where the student jumps in on this process and how long each process takes, is individualized.
