Let's have some fun, wear our favorite holiday jammies, sip hot cocoa and write a letter to Santa! We will warm up our discussion with a fun, age- appropriate game of Would You Rather: Holiday edition." Using Google Slides as a visual guide, I will teach the parts of a friendly letter. After we have learned the 5 parts, students will interact with me and each other as we write our letters to Santa. I will type and display sentence starters as a guide and student can customize their own...
Students will practice friendly letter format. Students will practice addressing a letter. Students will practice writing creatively to a specific person. Students will participate and communicate in a highly engaging learning environment. Students will have fun!
No homework is required, but students may want to continue writing and or coloring their letter to Santa after the session is complete. Students may want to get their full address from their parents after the class so they can address their envelope. Students will not be asked about their address and/ or location.
Highly recommended but not required- A letter template PDF will be sent to parents. It would be ideal for students to have a copy of the template for use in the final draft. Highly recommended but not required- An envelope for practicing writing addresses. Please do not purchase an envelope if you don't have one readily available. *If students don't have access to a printer, lined paper is recommended for writing letter.
