In this one time class, students will learn more about concrete or shape poetry and then work together to create a poem of their own. This class is designed to get learners engaged in the writing process.
Class experience
As emerging creative writers, learners in this class will be encouraged to explore the freedom of poetry in the form of concrete poems (also known as shape poems). We will begin our class by reading a sample of concrete poems and discussing their poetic devices. We will then work together as a group to write a collaborative poem. Finally, each student will be guided through a creative prompt to write a poem of their own. All that is necessary is a pencil and some paper! No homework, no...
