Assessment
One example of a tone quality rubric. Mr. Schafer's Tone Quality Rubric 4= Tone is consistently focused, clear, and centered throughout the range of the instrument. Tone has professional quality. 3 = Tone is focused, clear and centered through the normal playing range of the instrument. Extremes in range sometimes cause tone to be less controlled. Tone quality typically does not detract from the performance. 2 = Tone is often focused, clear and centered, but sometimes the tone is uncontrolled in the normal playing range. Extremes in range are usually uncontrolled. Occasionally the tone quality detracts from overall performance. 1 = The tone is often not focused, clear or centered regardless of the range being played, significantly detracting from the overall performance.

Class Experience

My teaching style is student centered and interactive. I focus on listening to music, analyzing our playing, provide many examples where I demonstrate musical concepts for the student. Students will perform together with me and alone to practice our music concepts.

For this lesson, I will teach the basics of brass fundamentals. This lesson focuses on the trumpet. I will cover: proper trumpet playing technique for example: tone production, buzzing, proper breathing, trumpet embouchure, tonguing, slurring. We will also focus on music theory including terms such as: measure, bar line, treble clef and treble clef notes.

I will use a Google Slide & my small white board in this lesson to explain music theory concepts.
Learning Goals
