In this flexible course, students will not meet for live teaching. Learners will view short teaching videos and they will complete a variety of learning activities at home. Each weekly video will be posted by Monday morning. Links to documents, experiments, and arts & crafts will be shared by the teacher with activities to be completed at home to encourage even more learning. Students will increase their knowledge and understanding of our solar system.
Week 1 - printer, scissors, glue, markers/crayons, small container (pie pan), flour, several marbles or small rocks, black poster board, painter's tape, white toothpaste, wiffle ball or other plastic/soft ball Week 2 - printer, scissors, glue, markers/crayons, regular-sized water/soda bottle, electrical tape, 4 pencils or popsicle sticks, vinegar, baking soda, paper towel, cork, construction paper, glow in the dark glue, plain white shaving cream, small unwaxed paper plates, bowl & spoon Week 3 - printer, scissors, glue, pencils, markers/crayons, contact lens solution with boric acid, school glue, baking soda, black gel food coloring, silver star sequins and/or silver glitter, empty toilet paper/paper towel tube, paint, star stickers; see the solar system craft ideas for items to make your solar system Week 4 - printer, scissors, glue, pencils, markers/crayons, clear plastic water bottle, black glitter glue, star sequins, gold glitter, super glue/hot glue gun, several boxes, poster board, tin foil, painter's tape
