Class Experience

This class will focus on teaching students the basics about Hawai'i, including the geography, history, and culture of the islands. The class will encourage students to ask questions and make predictions based on prior knowledge and information we go over together. We will use pictures and videos, as well as conversation, for students to learn about areas of interest. I lived in Hawai'i for three years and traveled extensively throughout the islands while living there. I taught in a majority Native Hawaiian community and learned a lot about the culture and history through the people that I met as well as seeking out materials on my own. I also taught Modern Hawaiian History at the school where I worked.
