Class Experience

Welcome to the club! 

Each club session will start with 'hellos', 'welcome backs' and introducing or sharing our dolls to the group. This can take 10 minutes or so depending on the size of the class. Learners are not required to introduce their dolls if they don't want to. I respect the wishes of my learners and want each person to participate at their own comfort level. This is a great opportunity to practice sharing, taking turns, and listening to others. 

After introductions, we head to...

Learners will unknowingly improve their map reading skills, knowledge of geography, and understanding of cultures and languages from around the world. It is my hope that learners also have fun sharing, learn how to take turns, and think about where they'd like to travel one day.

I am a STEM educator who believes that learning can come from all different sources. I enjoy traveling and have a degree in Anthropology. There is so much to learn from cultures around the world. I grew up with American Girl Dolls and think they make great playmates and companions to learn with. Children learn best when they are having fun and playing!

No homework is assigned. Learners are encouraged to continue researching destinations or topics that they found particularly interesting.

Please have learner bring their doll to class. Dolls do NOT need to be American Girl Dolls. Any doll works! 

I will send out information pages or coloring sheets for each place we visit. These will be uploaded into the classroom as PDFs the day before class. These are for added fun only and aren't required for participation in this class. If you don't have easy access to a printer, please don't worry!
