In this weekly class we will set some health goals as a group and commit to running three times a week. We will develop strength and endurance (and have fun doing so!).

Class experience

Students will be able to run 3 miles at the end of the 5 week course.  Students will learn the importance of taking care of their body. They will recognize that it is crucial to stretch before physical activity, the importance of cooling down, and the joy in achieving a goal!
I will provide students with a journal where they will track their runs and also note any struggles that they may have had.  We will use these journals as the guide in our weekly discussion.  They will also use these journals to write encouraging notes to themselves throughout the week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Whenever students are involved in a physical fitness routine, it is very important that they stretch before and after the strenuous exercise.  They should have proper footwear, a water bottle on hot days, and a way to contact home if they should trip or fall while running alone.  Sprains and dehydration are possible without proper stretching and hydration.
