My expertise on ancient Greece comes from 3 locations: 1) I grew up loving Greek mythology and reading any of the stories I could get my hands on. 2) I took many courses such as Art History, History of Theatre, Military History, and Philosophy -- all of which included extensive units on ancient Greece. 3) I traveled for a summer through the Mediterranean and visited as many of the ancient sites as I could while fitting them around my work schedule.
1 file available upon enrollmentA one-page printout will be provided. Students will need colored pencils or some other form of drawing/coloring utensils for their map.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If there is time at the end of class, the student can choose to test their new knowledge with a trivia game.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Much of the artwork from ancient Greece includes nude figures, both in their statuary and pottery. I will censor out the private areas, but will leave the rest of the figures visible. The mythology of ancient Greece often addresses adult subjects and content such as Zeus' affairs, murder, and the like. While I will attempt to be brief and vague when we reach these subjects they will still be mentioned. Examples include Hera's hatred of Hercules due to Zeus' affair, Cronus eating his children, and Agamemnon being murdered by his wife.
