Let's Tell a Story Together!

What if you told a story and it appeared right before your eyes? In this ongoing (subscription) live online class, I will introduce young storytellers to the essential elements of story -- setting, character, and plot -- through a series of questions based on the ancient Hero's Journey storytelling template that they will answer as a group. Each week, as learners determine the elements of the story, I will illustrate their tale on my marker board, changing the illustrations as the story develops. 

Exactly how the story develops will depend on the dynamic of the learners present, the way they choose to participate, and of course, their suggestions. The kids have control over the story each week, so the story will be totally different each week! In just 20 minutes, all the participants will have worked together to come up with an illustrated story, and afterwards, attendees will receive in the Outschool classroom the recording of class as a record of the unique story they created together.

You can join and leave this class anytime! Each week, I will go over the steps for how we put together our story, so your learner is sure to be equipped with everything they need to know regardless of when they join. And each week, the class will come up with an entirely new story. The stories do not build on each other, Along the way, young storytellers will better understand how to put together a narrative, helpful in everything from English class to informal conversation to imaginative play.
