Should homework be banned? Is summer better than winter? What came first, the chicken or the egg? This speech and debate social club will facilitate fun, casual debate on a variety of topics. Come and meet other students with a passion for debate and speech! Our class topics will follow the interests of the group and they will evolve naturally (learner-directed). Some weeks we may focus on one topic, other weeks we may discuss a number of topics. With many students learning online or...
Students will learn social skills as well as speech and debate skills. Particularly, students will analyze topics and learn how to create arguments and counterarguments.
I have a passion for debate. I joined a debate club at the age of 14, and I loved it! My involvement in debate and speech as a student led me to become interested in the practice of law. I continued to be involved in debate throughout law school. I graduated from law school in 2005 and was called to the bar in 2009.
Paper and a pen.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
