Let's Talk Numbers! Building Number Sense in First Grade

In this short, well-paced class, students will have an opportunity to talk about how they can solve math problems through a variety of strategies and trying unknown strategies.  "Building Number Sense Through Number Talks" is a research-based teaching method that is used in classrooms across the country.  Number Talks are effective in building strong math thinkers and developing foundational math skills. 
The only homework that will be assigned would be only if students want to practice additional strategies offline with siblings or friends.
Learner progress is evaluated through progress monitoring of strategies used.  Children will not need any materials for most of the sessions.  There will be an option for students to show their thinking on pencil and paper (in future classes), but most of Number Talks is strictly through verbalizing developing thinking and  listening to others.  If there is only 1 student, I will interact as another student.
