Description

Class Experience

In this 8-week course, we will discuss the eight main parts of speech. As we go through each topic, we will look at how they are used in sentences and why we should incorporate them into our writing. Each class will start by looking at a sentence. Students will discuss each thing that they notice in the sentence (this skill will build each week). Students will improve their knowledge of the 8 main parts of speech and apply their knowledge when creating sentences.

Homework will be minimal and only sent out if extra practice is needed. Most work will be completed during class time.

Informal assessments will be done throughout the weeks to check for understanding.

Kahoot- Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational institutions. Its learning games, "kahoots", are user-generated multiple-choice quizzes that can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. We will use Kahoot as a "game-like" tool to check for understanding. There is no subscription required. 

Edpuzzle- Edpuzzle is an easy-to-use platform allowing teachers to engage every student, one video at a time. Edpuzzle uses school-appropriate videos along with occasional questions to check for understanding. There is no subscription required. We will use this as a tool to practice our skills and check for understanding. 

Flipgrid- Flipgrid is the video discussion tool from Microsoft that opens up the classroom. Flipgrid is a video discussion tool designed by Microsoft to work specifically for teachers and students in a digital classroom. There is no subscription required. We will use this as a tool to discuss what we have learned.
