This class is meant for students that completed Level 1 CONVERSATION course or an advanced level course and that would like to improve their comprehension and communication skills. (If you haven't completed the lower level courses or done an assessment with me please don't sign up for this class yet to guarantee student success). This class, taught by a native speaker, will focus on strengthening the self-confidence of the student to communicate which is vital in becoming eloquent German communicators. We will also strengthen the students’ reading and writing skills. Students will have the opportunity to watch selected pieces of German news and discuss. Lastly, the class will dive into German literature according to age level. I will have an arrange of material that can be covered, yet this class will be tailored afresh with each new class and student composition according to the specific students' interests. For conversation classes I like to keep the schedule somewhat flexible in order to accommodate the students strengths, passions and interests and in order to take any fear of speaking and build on the students' interests. Students will gain confidence and have fun holding short speeches and summaries of events. We will learn from each other. This is a fun class that focuses on conversation skills but we will also dive into reading some interesting books/texts and learn new cultural facts! Sessions 1-2 Increasing Fluency through editing and working on reading and discussing various texts Talking about daily and weekly events Reading book excerpts/ first chapter book Session 3-4 German historical events and sights Reading and discussion German culture, news and Geography Learning Bundesländer und Staedte German foods Session 5-6 Poems and poets Famous Singers Presentations are being held
Learning Goals
Students will improve fluency and their understanding of German grammar, pronunciation and German culture through study of language. Increased vocabulary as well.

Here a little about me:
First of all: I absolutely love teaching, especially my mother language German because I believe it is such a wonderful language and a lot of fun to explore new cultures! I love to spark an interest in your students to visit German speaking countries one day. I also love learning from my students as they share about their life and knowledge of the world with their classmates during presentations.
I hold a BA in Linguistics and a Masters Degree from Regent University. I have been and am currently teaching various German language and culture courses at private universities in Los Angeles. Apart from having taught German at university level, I taught in private language school settings as well as in the public school sector and enjoy teaching all age groups!
Over the years I have come to believe that especially for younger students, learning a language at home is the perfect environment for them to conveniently relax and feel at ease as they practice their pronunciation in the comfort of their home.
I have been hybrid-homeschooling my own children for 8 years and love the freedom it allowed them to develop and pursue their interests and skills to the maximum. Since my children are 'language nerds' like me, they have actually been enrolled in Spanish, French and Mandarin in addition to speaking German and loving it. We are also looking to start Swahili once they are a little older! Why? Because I wholeheartedly believe learning a new language and culture is one of the best gifts your can give to your child in order to thrive in this world and life an extraordinary fulfilling life.
