Yep! Life is full of awkward moments. And if you're sometimes at a loss for words, guess what? You are not alone. In the real world, those who seem to be calm, cool, and collected are usually sweating underneath just as much as we are. This four-session course will explore ways to better navigate awkward and uncomfortable conversational situations. Through observation, role play, interviews, and frank discussions in a safe and judgment-free zone, attendees will learn to read verbal and nonverbal cues, understand the magic of running through scenarios ahead of time, and the art of preparation. In other words, thinking ahead not just about what to say in a situation, but how to say it. IT IS POSSIBLE to engage in some incredible conversations even if you are an introvert or conversationally awkward. So, how about it? Sign up and LET'S TALK! No background knowledge is required. _____________________________________________________________ Session One: • Intros | Background | Goals • Conversation Basics A: verbal cues (topics, tone, word choices) Session Two: • Sharing and discussion of observations from verbal cues example • Conversation Basics B: nonverbal cues (body language) Session Three: • Sharing and discussion of observations from nonverbal cues example • Conversation Basics B: nonverbal cues (body language) continued • What we “see” isn’t always what’s happening Session Four: • Sharing and discussion of interviews • The Rhythm and Flow of a Conversation • Role Play: conversation openers and closers • Communication Self-Assessment Survey score
