Yep! Life is full of awkward moments. And if you're sometimes at a loss for words, guess what? You are not alone. In the real world, those who seem to be calm, cool, and collected are usually sweating underneath just as much as we are. This four-session course will explore ways to better navigate awkward and uncomfortable conversational situations. Through observation, role play, interviews, and frank discussions in a safe and judgment-free zone, attendees will learn to read verbal...
Students will learn: • how to access safe and neutral topics • the vital role verbal cues play in conversation (for both speaker and listener) • how to be more aware of own tone and word choice when conversing • the role nonverbal cues play in effective communication • how to be more aware of own body language in various situations • how to enter/end a conversation • how/when to mirror or match another speaker • the four secrets to better communication
Mr. LeCara, with almost three decades of teaching, training, and coaching experience, understands the importance of effective communication skills for teenagers like you. In today's world, where communication happens in person, through screens, emails, and texts, it's essential to excel in this area. Unfortunately, many academic environments overlook teaching these skills, and recent years of isolation during the pandemic have only made it more challenging. But here's the exciting part: this leveling of the playing field gives everyone an opportunity to learn and adapt to the essential steps of engaging in healthy, positive, and authentic interactions. Mr. L believes that improving your communication abilities is the secret to personal and professional transformation.
