In this ongoing show-and-tell course students will be given the opportunity to bring a potted plant from their collection or home to share with the class and teacher. They can bring their favorite plant, least favorite, biggest, smallest, house plants, vegetables, herbs, etc. just has to be in a pot and easy to share on Zoom. Students will need to share the common name and scientific name of their plant. They can talk about what physical traits they like or don’t like, the observations they have made from growing their plant, the things they have read about their plant, or any questions or concerns they have about their plant. They can share anything about their plant they want! Students will be discussing and building connections with others through the common interest of plants and growing. Students will be able to bounce ideas from one another and to the teacher. Tips and tricks will be shared by the instructor to the students. A different or same plant can be brought in week-to-week. Teacher may share a plant of their own to fill class time or to show variety in the ongoing course. Weekly discussion is led by students and the plants they choose to bring in for the week’s discussion. Learners can leave and join this ongoing course whenever they feel. They will need a potted plant to show in the zoom meeting the week the planned to attend to lead class discussion with. There are no set week-to-week topics in this course. It is a show-and-tell course things are subject to change week-to-week depending on enrollment and plant species choices made by students before the scheduled meeting.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to share and troubleshoot plant related skills and tips with each other, while working on language and listening, social skills, and plant science. Students can learn to identify plant species and plant cultivars that may be shared during this ongoing course. Tips and tricks of the trade of growing may be shared or interjected into the lesson by the teacher that can be used and implemented immediately after the class meeting.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have my Bachelor’s degree in horticulture and greenhouse management with a minor in entomology. I have 5+ years of experience in agricultural and entomological field and lab science. I am also an avid home grower of potted house plants and vegetables. I currently teach biological sciences at the high school level.
