Class Experience

Does your young reader have a book they are reading (or have read) that they absolutely love?  Do they want to tell peers all about it in hopes their friends will read it too?  Do they have a book they just didn't like?  Do they want to let others know about it in case they may not like it as well?  In this ongoing course, readers will be encouraged to share books they have read or are reading, what they liked or didn't like about the book, and whether or not they would recommend it to...

Learners will gain social interaction while sharing books with each other.

I am a licensed elementary teacher who strives to foster a love of reading.

Students should come to class with a book they'd like to discuss.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Books are student chosen.  As the teacher, I will not know what books will be shared until that day.  That said, should there be a book that isn't appropriate, I will redirect the conversation.

Students will bring a book of choice that either they have read or a parent has read to them each week.

I am a licensed teacher in the state of Virginia and have worked in the public school system for about 10 years.  I have known my whole life that I was meant to be a teacher. (Ever since I taught my baby sister her alphabet when I was 5, anyway.) ...
