This class is designed to make a safe and comfortable environment to discuss a topic we can all enjoy together, basketball! Furthermore, this class will develop the listening and speaking skills all students need to succeed in school and in life. This class is structured to facilitate student voices, opinions, and debate. Students will employ their critical thinking skills and develop a relevant argument in taking a position backed with evidence. Students will compare and contrast players and teams, analyze statistics, and discuss the current breaking news coming from the league. We will be watching player highlights, view league standings and league leaders, debate power rankings, and more. *** The topics discussed in class will be determined by the relevant events and happenings in the NBA that week. Students will be given choice and they will be surveyed that week in order to determine the topic for discussion. Students will not be required to bring any additional supplies to class. All students will have a chance to voice their opinions and their thoughts will be respected and honored in our discussion. It is recommended that students have an intermediate knowledge of basketball and the NBA.
