Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
By being a part of this Anime club, your child will be able to enhance their: - Social skills: Students can create friendships with others who "get" them and have opportunities throughout the class to let their voices be heard. - Exposure to diversity: They will be asked to watch movies they might not have thought about trying on their own. The class also consists of conversations of people with different backgrounds, which will influence how they see films. - Critical thinking skills: Students will be asked to think about certain scenes with a critical eye, helping them understand what the movie was trying to say and do
I am an anime aficionado and I love discussing anime with anyone who would want to. I have a Diploma in communications and have taken multiple film theory and media analysis classes at university. I also have a social science degree which allows me to combine my love for anime, with other issues that the series might talk about.
Students will be asked to watch the movie or some episodes of the series prior to coming to class.
Netflix Subscription, and other anime subscriptions like Hulu/Amazon Prime/Crunchyroll and Funimation. The weekly anime will always be chosen from something we all have access to.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental guidance is recommended to see if the film or series is suitable for their learner as some shows might have scary scenes. Some anime will have TV-14 ratings so please note the ratings of each show. This club will not be touching on anything rated higher than TV-14 due to the age group of the learners.
